Responsibilities:
Business Analyst: A business analyst works with the clients. He/she has to understand what they need and what the problems that they face. Then they work with the managers and try to figure out how to coordinate within their team. The next thing that they do is use current data to outline the problem, so they analyze the data and understand what their client wants so that they can describe to the team what they are trying to solve and what they're looking for, and the next thing that they're going to do is an outline and communicate what the client wants to the team what is the problem what are they trying to solve and how are we going to get there and often time the business analyst is going to do all the analysis around that and then actually hand it off to either the programming team or a data analyst to look into this further and solve the issue.
Data Analyst: A data analyst works with programming teams that collect and analyze the data. The difference between the aforesaid is that a business analyst is typically works most with the client-side and with the managers while a data analyst works more with the programming side. Next, they use pre-existing data actually solve the problem and so a business analyst is going to bring the problem and define the problem and bring that to the programming team and then the data analyst along with the programmers or the developers are going to solve the problem and figure out a solution. Next, they're going to create reports and dashboards and that is a part of basically any data analyst job where you’re creating some type of visualization and the very last thing that you're going to do is present analytical findings to the team.
So, the business analyst is going to bring the problem to the team where the data analyst is going to present back to the team with their findings and with a possible or potential solution.
